“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.” 1 Peter 4:10-11 NIV
My friend Jeff is the consummate host. Whether it’s a small or large gathering with family and friends that requires days of preparation, he will go above and beyond to make sure it’s a memorable event. God has truly blessed him with the gift of hospitality. Me, not so much.
Don’t get me wrong; I love gathering with family and friends. But when it comes to determining the menu, I’ll make reservations at our favorite restaurant. I might bake some cookies for everyone, but cooking isn’t one of my gifts.
My gifting is coaching, counseling, and writing, but in addition, I love helping build or restore things like homes, and churches in need of restoration. Seeing the gratitude on someone’s face brings joy to my heart, knowing that I’ve been a good steward of the gifts God has given me.
I believe in tithing my talents and gifting whenever and wherever possible is how God wants me to live my life. That might mean listening to one person or lifting lumber for another. For me, this is what it means to be a faithful steward.
What about you, have you ever considered what does being a faithful steward means to you? Ask God to guide you in understanding and using the gifts He’s given in you. Allow God to use your gifts to shine His love to others through you.
I hope today’s blog has encouraged you. Make sure you sign up to receive blogs posted every week. At TransformingFamilies.org, our resources are here to guide you through the restoration process of developing your heart, mind, and strength, enabling you to become the man or woman God created you to be.
I also provide one-on-one coaching; if you want to improve your relationships, let’s connect through e-mail at ‘rturner@transformingfamilies.org’. My hope for you is that through these blogs, references, and resources, God will transform you from being bruised or broken to an abundantly blessed child of God.
