Their call came unexpectedly and early, especially for them, considering we’re several time zones away. My meeting started in 10 minutes, and my first thought was to let it go to voice mail, but that didn’t jive with God’s leading, so I answered their call.
They were asking for prayer; an unexpected but essential meeting had come up for their son’s educational needs, hence the call for prayer. I was honored and delighted that they asked. So we prayed with each other and for each other.
Fast forward to later that day, during my workout, when I received a text alert. Prompted in my heart to check it, another friend asked for prayer for a court hearing the next day. So I prayed with him and his family for God’s wisdom and will in all that transpired—then continued working out.
My day included various other things checked off my “to-do” list, but none were more important than praying with and for these men and women.
James 5 speaks to the importance and power of prayer, specifically about our prayers in verse 16: “Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.”
Please remember that the “great power” is not in our prayers but in the One we pray to.
My prayer for you today.
I pray with you for God’s presence, protection, provision, and peace to flow freely today.
I pray with you for God’s help, healing, and hope to bless you richly in every moment of your day.
I pray with you for God’s wisdom, will, and work to guide your mind, heart, and spirit.
I pray that God’s continuing work in your life thrives through His transformational grace.
I pray each day that your life brings honor and glory to God.
Amen.
It has been an honor to pray with you and for you today.
